Our Collaboration Model
Say Hey There operates on a nontraditional, collaboration-first model. Rather than maintaining a large in-house team, we partner with a curated roster of independent creatives in Omaha and beyond on a project by project basis. Over the years, we’ve built trusted relationships with designers, photographers, videographers, and other specialists we can tap into as projects call for their unique strengths. This approach allows us to stay independent, flexible, and agile—while delivering high-quality, highly customized work for every client we serve.
Current Opportunities
Marketing Coordinator (Contract Role)
We believe that collaborations should be mutually beneficial, flexible, and fun.
We’re seeking a Marketing Coordinator to join our curated creative roster on a project-by-project basis. This is a flexible, contract-based opportunity where you’ll work remotely and collaborate directly with our founder, Mikala, on meaningful marketing initiatives for nonprofit and community-driven organizations.
This is a 1099 independent contractor role. You’ll be compensated per project (flat fee or hourly), invoice upon completion, and choose assignments based on your availability and interest. There are no set weekly hours — instead, we match projects based on availability, interest, and studio needs.
This role in particular offers valuable exposure to brand strategy, campaign development, client communication, and integrated marketing execution. It’s a strong fit for someone who enjoys learning through hands-on collaboration and wants insight into how a nimble creative studio operates.
Every client we serve has distinct goals, audiences, and brand standards. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a variety of campaigns and creative projects while maintaining your independence, flexibility, and autonomy.
You will work on a variety of creative projects that may include:
-
Writing and editing copy for emails, social posts, and web content
-
Creating graphics in Canva or Adobe tools
- Social media management
-
Researching campaign ideas and community engagement opportunities
-
Organizing marketing assets, prepping reports, and attending client meetings
-
Assisting with basic project coordination and scheduling content
- Promoting community events and fundraisers

You’ll collaborate directly with others on purposeful projects for mission-driven organizations — and get paid to do meaningful work.
As a project-based independent contractor, you’ll have the freedom to work remotely from wherever you do your best thinking, accept assignments that align with your availability and interests, and manage your own schedule.

Who We’re Looking For
At Say Hey There, we deeply care about the community. Our mission is to amplify the voices of organizations that are making a positive difference in the world so they can boost their impact. We work towards accomplishing our mission every day by providing exceptional marketing and communications support and by sharing brand stories in an authentic way that will raise awareness and inspire engagement.
It’s incredibly important for us to make sure that the marketing assets and organizational communications we are creating and putting out into the world are inclusive and representative of the diverse communities being served by each of our clients. This means being intentional about casting, storytelling, image selection, language, and all other factors that make up a brand’s identity. Read more about our commitment to DEI&A.
If your values align with ours, we want to meet!
You’re likely a great fit if you’re a student or early-career creative with an interest in marketing, writing, design, or nonprofit work. You enjoy using both sides of your brain—creative thinking and thoughtful execution. You’re dependable, detail-oriented, efficient, and eager to learn. You care about community, storytelling, and doing good work that matters.
No experience is required. Some education (formal or self-sought) in the areas of marketing or design is a plus, but what’s most important is that you have a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.

“During my time with Say Hey There, I got to practice and improve my skills as a videographer by working on real projects with real clients. Not only did I have the benefit of learning the technical side of digital content creation, but I also gained invaluable experience with the social side of digital marketing under Mikala’s mentorship. After, when I went on to create content for my own clients, I felt wholly prepared to solve creative problems and give my clients the videos they needed.”
“One of the most valuable things I learned while working at Say Hey There was the importance of branding. I learned that marketing for nonprofits focuses more on spreading awareness, engaging the community, and making an impact. I enjoyed this work because I felt I was able to help make a difference for a good cause. I feel that my organizational skills improved because I had to manage multiple clients and meet deadlines. Lastly, my confidence has grown in trying new things. The projects I worked on throughout this experience have given me beneficial insight on what a future career could look like for me.”
